A survey indicating that expatriates believe they have a better quality of life to their UK-based counterparts could prompt people to seek employment overseas.

Those interested in finance jobs in Hong Kong are advised the NatWest International Personal Banking Quality of Life Report discovered 89 per cent of those quizzed felt life was better overseas and the number planning to return to the UK has dropped from 26 per cent in 2008 to 19 per cent this year.

In addition, expatriate salaries are an average of 20 per cent higher than those in Britain, with 90 per cent of respondents claiming to be financially secure.

"The pace of life, work life balance and earning potential abroad means life as an expat is sunnier in more ways than one," head of NatWest International Personal Banking Dave Isley remarked.

Hong Kong was found to have the highest average salary increase in the past two years of any of the countries examined, at 19 per cent.
