1911 Revolution Forum Held in Hong Kong
The forum was part of a series of youth exchange activities in 2011 to mark the centennial of the revolution that helped end feudal rule in China. Among those who attended the forum, 300 had already visited historical sites related to the revolution in Hubei and Beijing.
Keynote speakers for the forum included Dr. Joseph Ting, former curator with the Hong Kong Museum of History and Peter Sun, a great-grand nephew of Sun Yat-sen. The former explained Sun Yat-sen's historical bond with Hong Kong, while the latter entertained the audience with anecdotes of the revolution pioneer.
William Choy, chief organizer for the youth exchange program, reaffirmed the role of the forum venue, Loke Yew Hall, as Sun Yat-sen delivered a famous speech in the same site in 1923. He also urged students from the mainland, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong to enhance mutual understanding of one another.
