Police have come under fire for allegedly trying to cover up four random knife attacks by an unidentified assailant within an 11-hour span in Tseung Kwan O this month.

Sai Kung district councillor Chan Kai-wai slammed the police for putting people at risk by not making the attacks public.

"The information was only released a week later. What if someone was seriously hurt in the meantime?" he asked yesterday.

The first victim, a 49-year-old man, was stabbed in the back at 8.02pm on October 2 near Po Lam Shopping Center.

About 4 hours later, an 18-year-old was struck on the arms and back inside a tunnel in King Lam Estate.

He is still being treated at Tseung Kwan O Hospital, although his injuries are not serious, police said.
