Food safety authorities in Hong Kong will not stop the sale of baby formula milk power from Japan, although the Japanese maker has withdrawn the product.

Hong Kong's Centre for Food Safety said milk powder imported from Japan were safe enough for babies, and parents should not worry.

Radioactive cesium was reported to have been found in infant milk powder made by the Japanese food and dairy firm, Meiji Holdings.

Hong Kong has been checking food imported from Japan since the Fukushima nuclear disaster occurred nearly nine months ago.
