There’s no need to go all angelic and shrink from big, bold style as we head into the Christmas party season — at least not if you live in Hong Kong. This winter, Hong Kong’s most stylish luxury retail store, Joyce (sort of to Hong Kong what Barneys is to New York), has commissioned five hot international designers to design an exclusive Christmas capsule collection for the store. The five, Alexander McQueen, Maison Michel, Thom Browne, the Row (the Olsen Twins' line), and Anthony Vaccarello, have reinterpreted their respective signature styles to create the ultimate party wardrobe for the Harbor City.

This is just the latest in a series of fashion coups for Joyce, a pioneer in luxury retail, the very first to introduce international designers to Hong Kong way back in 1971 when Joyce Ma launched her eponymous multi-label boutique.

Since then collections by designers as covetable and diverse as McQueen, Balenciaga, Comme des Garcons, Dries Van Noten, Etro, Hugo Boss, Issey Miyake, Jil Sander, John Galliano, Maison Martin Margiela, Marni, Rick Owens, and Stella McCartney have been highlighted in her store, which from the beginning took a “curatorial” approach of blending fashion with art. Continuing that devotion to the fashion/art fusion, she has set aside a space in each branch of her store for a gallery devoted to showcasing the work of up-and-coming artists and designers.
