Soon, 131 new Metro trains

NEW DELHI: The number of people using Metro services has been going up and looking at this increased rush, the Delhi Metro has ordered 131 new trains.

Apart from easing the rush in the Metro, the new coaches will have additional features like power connections that will enable passengers to use their laptops and charge their mobiles while travelling on the Metro. Every new Metro coach of Phase-II will have power supply points for this purpose, reported officials.

Said a Delhi Metro official: "The Metro coaches in Phase-II will also have reduced noise levels inside the trains. The DMRC is making major design changes to reduce noise levels by use of special sound absorbing cushions in the walls of the Metro coaches and more buffing on the Metro doors."
