Capital reports its first dengue death


New Delhi, September 4 As the total number of dengue cases crossed 100, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi acknowledged the first dengue death in the national Capital on Thursday.



The civic agency confirmed that Major Vikas Yadav, a 40-year-old garrison engineer from Military Engineering Service, had succumbed to dengue.

“Last week’s death has been confirmed from the Delhi Cantonment area,” said Dr V K Monga, Chairman of MCD’s Public Health Committee. “Besides, 17 fresh cases have also been reported from all over Delhi in the last 48 hours.”

The total number of cases now stands at 109.

While four cases were detected in the Rohini (Outer) zone, three were reported from West Delhi and two each from Najafgarh, Central Delhi and Civil Lines.
