Naidu, YSR take fight to New Delhi

Chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday took their political war to New Delhi, with Naidu leading the ‘Grand Alliance’ to the national capital seeking prosecution of the CM for corruption and the state Congress wasting no time in dashing off a letter to the President demanding a central probe against the TDP president on similar charges.

Naidu’s efforts to meet the President on Wednesday and submit a memorandum listing the charges against YSR turned futile as she was said to be away in Maharashtra and not expected until Thursday evening.

Forced to stay put in New Delhi, Naidu and other leaders of his alliance spent the day meeting external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee and holding a press conference for the national media.

Describing YSR as ‘Raja of Corruption,’ Naidu, TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, CPM state secretary B V Raghavulu and CPI state secretary K Narayana charged that the CM had accumulated crores of rupees by ‘abusing his power and indulging in corruption and money-laundering.’
