Delta to give vouchers to Flight 253 passengers
"As a courtesy to our customers, Delta is in the process of proactively reaching out to customers on Flight 253 from Amsterdam and offering credit for future travel," said Susan C. Elliott, a Delta spokeswoman.
"The flight crew has also been recognized for their quick action and professionalism in communications to our 70,000 employees."
But one family that has been critical of how the airline treated them said the vouchers were unnecessary.
"They didn't feel they were owed anything but an apology," said Ryan Keepman of his parents, Charlie and Richelle Keepman of Wisconsin, who were among the passengers detained for several hours after a Nigerian man allegedly tried to set off an explosive Christmas Day.
"They sat through four or five hours of questioning," Keepman said. "They were put into a holding area with no food, and nobody telling them anything."
