Thus they earned millions of dollars, and the company owner gave orders to paint the pipes so that they seem new.

Such deceit may lead to grave catastrophes in the areas where the old pipes were laid, especially if they carry gas. The pipes will not be able to withstand the pressures of gas flow and may burst, and cause many injured people and fires all over the area.
