Pattaya: Sattahip monkey girl consequence of karmic law, says family
On 28th January 2009 PDN met Nong Pin or Benyapa Sukmark, together with her parents Mr. Sinchai Sukmark [27] and Mrs. Mayuree Sukmark [20] who live at 1020 / 21 Moo. 1, Sattahip, Chonburi and work as temporary office staff at the Sattahip District Council offices.
When we arrived we found the delightful girl being held by her mother. She explained that Nong Pin couldn’t speak and she liked to swing and hang from things. She has a strong grip, walks on tip-toe and can’t sit still!
The mother said the girl had been rejected by the local nursery schools but she had become a favourite among the family and neighbours. Nong Pin is happy and always smiling and is being brought up like every Thai girl.
Nong Pin was born 2 months premature at Sattahip Hospital. At birth she weighed just one kilo, her head was as small as a fist, her skin was shrunk and she had patches of thin hair. After just two days, however, she could manage to hold up her head.

(...) Mrs. Mayuree explained that her father used to hunt animals when he was young and had killed many monkeys, langurs and gibbons and it is believed that Karma has made Nong Pin the way she is. The child’s grandparents are still alive and love Nong Pin very much, but they feel guilty and have sworn not to take any lives again.
