Makha Bucha Day in Pattaya - Thailand - Pattaya - society - religion

Makha Bucha Day is an important religious festival that is celebrated throughout Buddhist countries to honour the teachings of Buddha.

By custom it falls during the time of the full moon, usually in February. This year it fell on the 9th February. Like other countries it is a national holiday in Thailand and many religious ceremonies are held in temples all over the country. In Pattaya, people gathered throughout the day at the main temples in Naklua and also Wat Chaimongkol on South Pattaya Road to take part in merit making activities. During the evening, there were candlelight processions where monks and the congregation slowly walked around the main temple area three times as an act of respect.
