Chonburi Provincial Government propose 3 month promotion package to stimulate the Pattaya Tourism Industry
On Monday afternoon at Pattaya City Hall, Khun Surapon, the Governor of Chonburi Province led a press conference to announce a 3 month promotion campaign for Pattaya which will attempt to lure foreign tourists back to Pattaya following the recent troubles which undoubtedly had a negative effect on the already struggling tourism industry.
The Provincial Governor was backed up at the press conference by Khun
Wittaya, the Chief of the Chonburi Provincial Administration and his
younger brother, Khun Itipon, the Mayor of Pattaya. In conjunction with
local business and tourism associations, discounts will be offered at
Hotels and Tourist Attractions around Pattaya for the three months. A
further meeting will be arranged with local Hotel operators who will be
asked to join the promotion which is expected to start in May.
Furthermore, there was a suggestion at the meeting that Central Government in Bangkok should be contacted about rescheduling the ASEAN Summit here in Pattaya rather than allowing it to be held somewhere else in Thailand should the decision be made to re-arrange the meeting. It appears there is widespread support for this here in Pattaya despite the problems that occurred. Further discussions on this point will take place over the coming week.
