Pattaya in Chonburi, Thailand is launching a series of programs to attract more tourists from the domestic market in a bid to drum up demand following the country’s recent political unrest.

In a press conference, Pattaya City Mayor Ittiphol Khunplome asked the Thai Hotels Association Eastern Chapter (THA-E), Pattaya Business and Tourism Association (PBTA) and other business entrepreneurs to help renew confidence in the domestic market.

Mr Khunplome also announced a series of special packages and discounts to entice travelers to return to the resort city.

The initiative offers members and non-members of the THA-E Chapter complimentary rooms from the period 1 May to 31 July 2009 with validity extended until 31 October 2009.
