Pennsylvania state police charged a local man with public drunkenness after he was trying to resuscitate a long-dead opossum along a highway.

Witnesses saw 55-year-old Donald Wolfe, of Brookville, near the dead animal along Route 36 in Oliver Township on Thursday afternoon.

One of the witnesses said Wolfe was kneeling before the opossum and "gesturing as though he were conducting a seance," CBS3 reported. Another witness saw Wolfe performing the mouth-to-mouth resucitation.

Wolfe looked "extremely intoxicated" and "did have his mouth in the area of the animal's mouth, I guess," Trooper Jamie Levier said.
