The Thai Election Commission (EC) Monday submitted its resolution to dissolve the ruling Democrat Party over alleged misuse of a political development fund to the Constitution Court for consideration, the National News Bureau of Thailand reported.

On April 12, the EC charged the Democrat Party with misusing some 29 million baht (899,493 U.S. dollars) in party subsidies.

Moreover, the EC claimed the party had unlawfully received a 258 million baht (7.98 million U.S. dollars) donation from TPI Polene Plc in 2005.

Thailand's charter has prohibited a political party from receiving donation of over 10 million baht (310,170 U.S. dollars) a year from an individual or a company.

However, EC has not decided when to submit the case of donation to the Office of the Attorney General as there is not a required time frame in this case.
