After seven straight weeks of anti-government demonstrations on the streets of Bangkok, Thailand's red shirt protesters show no sign of giving up. With red shirt leaders bracing for what they fear will be a government crackdown against them, the protesters have been reinforcing their camps in the heart of the Thai capital. As well as sealing off a large part of the city's commercial district, they have built their own "red city", which is home to tens of thousands of protesters. Al Jazeera's Wayne Hay reports from Bangkok.

Thai anti-government protesters blocked one of Bangkok’s two commuter train lines during the morning rush hour, prompting a vow from authorities to “toughen measures” to prevent escalating disruptions.

Businesses crippled by the Ratchaprasong occupation will be given a 180 day extension on tax payments and other financial obligations, while their employees will be given assistance until the crisis is over.

Thailand's leading television station Sunday experienced a bomb threat, the website by The Nation newspaper reported.

Becoming increasingly frustrated with the seemingly endless rallies by the red-shirted anti-goverment protesters, about 100 people in shirts of all colours clashed with the Red Shirts on Bangkok's Silom Road on Wednesday night.
