Body Bar spa in West Seattle has soothing therapies on tap

Now that summer is in full swing, Seattleites are dusting off their bikes and rollerblades -- which in some cases haven't seen action since this time last year -- and heading outside. And at the end of an active day, some of those weekend warriors return home with sunburns and sore bodies.

Here to help is Therese Henning, licensed massage therapist and owner of Body Bar in West Seattle, which opened this past May. Body Bar offers clever cocktail-themed massage and skin care concoctions served up in a stylish and soothing environment. The menu tantalizes with facials, body wraps and massages aimed to quench dehydrated, sun-kissed skin and relieve sore, belligerent muscles.

Signature skin care offerings include the Top Shelf Facial, which blends classic European techniques with modern research for a luxurious facial customized to your skin type (60 minutes for $75; 90 minutes for $100). Also on the menu is The Mimosa, a results-oriented vitamin C-infused facial designed to tame the signs of sun damage and aging (90 minutes for $110).

No-nonsense massage lovers will get what they need with the Straight-Up. Choose between Swedish, relaxation, sports or deep-tissue techniques, then lie back, give in and unwind under the talented hands of Henning and her staff (60 minutes for $75; 75 minutes for $85; 90 minutes for $100).
