Cash-strapped Cuba to require health insurance for visitors - Cuba - travel

Cuba will require travelers to take out health insurance if they want to visit the country, according to a new government measure.

Under the measure, published in the online edition of Cuba's Official Gazette, the insurance will be sold by foreign companies approved by the Cuban government or by Cuban firms at ports of entry to the island,

The measure orders tourists, foreigners with temporary residence in Cuba and Cuban expatriates who return to visit their homeland to be insured.
The new regulation takes effect in May. It exempts diplomats and representatives of accredited international organizations.
