Get set to rock and run this summer; Course revealed for new Seattle marathon - USA - Seattle - Sports - athletics

Dubbed "a running nirvana," the inaugural Rock 'N' Roll Seattle marathon got a clear riff Friday when event promoters unveiled the 26.2- mile course for the inaugural race set for June 27.

The marathon, which groups elite runners and first-timers together at the start line, will begin at Foster Golf Links in Tukwila, run through Seward Park and along Lake Washington's west shore to Interstate 90.

The half-marathon, which is expected to draw tens of thousands of participants, will veer off at Second Avenue South and finish in front of Qwest Field at South Jackson and King streets.

The marathoners will continue to the Alaskan Way Viaduct for an up-and-back trek through the Battery Street tunnel and Aurora Avenue North, then south past the West Seattle Bridge. The finish line is back on South King Street between Occidental and Second avenues south.
