However, Taiwan drew level when Thailand's Buranakrue Watchara lost to Hsu Jen Hao 11-21, 13-21 in straight sets but Jindapol Nitchaon restored their advantage after edging Lu Chia Chien 21-11, 16-21, 21-17 in the women's singles.
Buranakrue later made amends for his lost in the singles when he partnered Supasri Pawarit to clinch the winning point for Thailand, after beating Chang Kai Liang-Lin Yu Te 18-21, 21-15, 21-15 in a thrilling three-set encounter.
