Thailand Beat Taiwan To Clinch Third Place In World Junior Championships - Thailand - Sports - badminton


ALOR SETAR - Thailand clinched third place in the World Junior Badminton Championships after beating Taiwan 3-1 at the Sultan Abdul Halim Indoor Stadium here Monday.



Host Malaysia and China meet in the final that has been scheduled to start at 7.30pm tonight.

Phuangphuapet Nipitphon and Serithammarak Artima gave Thailand their first point by beating Yang Chi Hsun-Wu Yun Ting 21-17, 15-21, 21-12 in a three-set mixed doubles match.

However, Taiwan drew level when Thailand's Buranakrue Watchara lost to Hsu Jen Hao 11-21, 13-21 in straight sets but Jindapol Nitchaon restored their advantage after edging Lu Chia Chien 21-11, 16-21, 21-17 in the women's singles.

Buranakrue later made amends for his lost in the singles when he partnered Supasri Pawarit to clinch the winning point for Thailand, after beating Chang Kai Liang-Lin Yu Te 18-21, 21-15, 21-15 in a thrilling three-set encounter.
