Iran beats Thailand in FIBA Asia U-16 Championship - Thailand - Sports - FIBA - Basketball


JOHOR - Iran defeated Thailand in the FIBA Asia U-16 Championship on Friday. Iran, which had edged Taiwan in its opening on Thursday, overcame Thailand 71-36 in Group D.



The West Asian team will play host Malaysia on Saturday.

Sixteen teams are divided in four groups and the top two teams from each group advance to the next stage.

The top two teams of the tournament will qualify for the inaugural 2010 FIBA U17 World Championship to be played in Hamburg, Germany from July 2 to 11.
