Boxing: Kiattaweesuk victorious
Southpaw Kiattaweesuk kept the shorter import off balance continually as he connected with rapid fast combinations from round one to control the action in all the rounds. The aggressive challenger came to fight but had no answer to the superior boxing skills of the champion. At the conclusion, scores were: 120-108 on all of the score cards of the judges.
Promoter Jimmy Chaichotchuang said: “Kiattaweesuk is ready to fight the best bantamweights in the world. We would be happy to challenge new IBF 118 pound champion Yonny Perez in optional defense of the title and will fight him anywhere in the world.”
On the undercard former featherweight Patomchoke Patompothong (17-0, 15 KOs) was impressive in out scoring Jun Eraham (9-18-4) over six action rounds. The Filipino was dropped in round two from a barrage but gamely boxed on to last the distance. (Patompothong began his professional career while serving a six year sentence in Bangkok prison and was released in 2008.)
