Australia, China, Hong Kong and Thailand all secured qualification in the Techno 293 windsurfer events to be held at the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games.

Michael Cheng Chun Meung (HKG) and Siripon Kawduang Ngam (THA) emerged as 2010 Asian Champions after six days’ of racing at the Techno 293 Asian Championships. Both sailors went into the final day in pole position and despite two firsts for Chen Mubin (CHN) in the boys fleet, it was not enough to overhaul the overnight leader. Lee Chun Tiung (HKG) took the final podium position.

In the girl’s fleet Siripon added another two wins in races 9 and 10 to compliment the two first on the previous day of racing. She excelled in the lighter winds that predominated in the second half of the regatta. Lin Hai Xia (CHN) and Man Ka Kei (HKG) held on to take second and third overall - with other members of the China team close behind.

The top two nations in both the boys and girls fleets qualified to compete in the first Youth Olympic Games that will take place this summer in Singapore:

In the Boy’s fleet Hong Kong and China took the two places, whilst in the Girl’s they went to Thailand and China.
