HSBC China Junior Open: Jutanugarn sisters, Ratanon Help Thailand to victory - Sports Illustrated - Sports - golf - China - Thailand

The marvellous Jutanugarn sisters piloted Thailand to victory in the HSBC China Junior Open at the Keilan Golf Club in Hainan, China, on Sunday.

Elder sister Moriya, 15, hit a three-day total of one-over-par 217 to take the girls A Class trophy, two strokes better than China's Liu YiChen. Younger Ariya took the B Class trophy with a superb score of 17-under-par 199 at the 6,372-yard par72 course.

"We were tied until our 13th hole. I birdied hole number eight [her 17th] and Liu shot a bogey," said Moriya.

"We often win together. I'm happy about it. I'm happy for my sister and for Ratanon [Whannasrichan]. Their victories helped the team immensely."

But Ariya, a year younger, stole the show with her sensational performance. "It's great. It's my best ever score. The course is wide so I just stayed out of trouble. This is a really good preparation for playing with the LPGA players," said Ariya, the youngest competitor in an LPGA event when she received an invitation to enter the Thailand LPGA two years at the age of 12.
