Badminton: India wins Thomas Cup Asia Zone qualifier against Thailand - Nakhon Ratchasima - Thomas Cup - Asia - badminton - Sports - India - Thailand

Thailand lost 3-2 to India that topped their group in the Thomas Cup Asia Zone qualifiers at the King's 80th Birthday Anniversary Stadium, in Nakhon Ratchasima yesterday.

The Thai men took a 2-0 lead when Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk defeated Anand Chetan 21-18, 21-14 and Thitipong Lapoe and Patipat Chalardchaleam beat Sanave Thomas and Rupesh Kumar 22-20, 21-19. But India managed to win the next three matches to win the tie 3-2.

Arvind Bhatt defeated Suppanyu Avihingsanon Suppanyu 21-15, 21-16; Diju V and Akshay Dewalkar beat Tin D Caballes and Nipitphon Puangpuapech 21-16, 18-21, 21-14; and Gurusaidutt R M V defeated Watchara Buranakruea 21-6, 21-13.

Both teams have managed to proceed to the next round of matches.

The Thai team is currently forced to play without its best players who are protesting the Badmintion Association of Thailand for alleged mismanagement.
