Rugby: Gritty Arabian Gulf see off Hong Kong in HSBC Asian Five Nations - Hong Kong - Bahrain - Rugby - Sports - Asian Five Nations

The Arabian Gulf overcame a nail-biting final few moments to register a 16-9 win over Hong Kong in last night's HSBC Asian Five Nations (A5N) clash in Saar.

Played out in front of a full house at Bahrain Rugby Football Club, the game was a bruising encounter and produced few try-scoring opportunities.

In the end it was an awesome defensive display and an opportune score from Jonny MacDonald that proved decisive.

A second Love effort from near-on half way feel just short a few minutes later and Hong Kong were able to clear their lines.

Seemingly growing in confidence with each phase of play, the visitors began to threaten out wide, only for MacDonald's intervention to turn the tide.
