Many studies have singled the Jerusalem Temple Mount. Jews pray daily for the restoration of the Temple, and Evangelical Christians see the restoration of the Jewish Temple as precondition for the Second Coming of Jesus. It is the common suspicion of Moslems that the Jews intend to remove or blow up the Moslem shrines on the Temple Mount to make room for their rebuilt temple (and they erroneously mix the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam's 3rd holiest site with the Dome of the Rock, which is a different shrine and actually not a mosque). It was the manipulation of rumors about the Temple Mount that ignited the last Palestinian uprising, called by its perpetrators "The Al-Aqsa Intifada".
Yet there is no need for Jewish extremists to blow up the Dome of the Rock or the Al-Aqsa Mosque in order to clear a place for the Third Temple – sooner or later even the El-Qaeda or similar organization may perpetrate it and then blame Israel-the Jews-the Western Powers in order to evoke a global Jihad. Certainly the real aim for Iranian missiles that might be aimed at Tel Aviv is Jerusalem.
