Ontario political vets get key duties
Harper shook up his cabinet yesterday, keeping Jim Flaherty as finance minister but putting Tony Clement in charge of Industry and John Baird in Transport, where he will have responsibility for infrastructure spending.
Baird wasted little time putting a priority on the billions of dollars earmarked for infrastructure, saying such investments will be a critical tool to create jobs and sustain the economy during the downturn.
"We are committed to working constructively to see infrastructure projects go," Baird said outside Rideau Hall, after being sworn in.
